Dabble:  Static Balance

The first technique that you need to get a handle on is "Static Balance". Posing a character so that they have correct Static Balance means posing them so that  they are in a position where they are not being pushed in any direction by gravity or their own muscles.

In other words, if a character is statically balanced, they should be able to stand still.  If they are not statically balanced, they cannot avoid starting to move in one direction or the other.

The most important thing that you need to do for your character to be statically balanced is to make sure that the  the character's center of gravity is inside their zone of support.

OK, got that?  Good, because throughout this exercise you'll have to bear that single concept in mind fairly much constantly.  Don't worry, it's not really that big a deal.
